AR102 | Introduction to Architectural Design - Festival in Town

Final Assignment: Festival in Town

In this assignment, I expected to design a small accomodation space for an artist/craftsman/sportsman who will participate in a festival in Cunda Island of Ayvalık. This space will consist of not only basic living functions for accomodation but also the spaces for practice or display within the Existenzminimum concept.

Before starting the project, me and two of my friends -as a group- searched some buildings in the world which are designed just for an artist/craftsman/sportsman etc. him/herself. After this phase we had an excursion to Ayvalık, Cunda to understand both the natural and build-up environment and the communication between them. We analyzed some features of the site like sun and wind directions, topography and vegetation spreading, axises and density of roads (human and traffic), solid-void relationships and functions of buildings at Cunda.

Considering and examining all analysis was our starting point of our individual designs. As a group, we chose Art&Culture Festival and Nodes&Vistas scenerio for our designs. I designed this project for a tailor/fashion designer within the Existenzminimum concept.
